I love this weeks TPT Seller's Challenge!!! It really makes you stop and think what are some of your dreams and what are some ways to reach them.
My dreams are family/friend driven.
1. Build new teacher/friend relationships- I never knew there was a whole new world outside of the classroom for teachers. If your like me, you've stayed inside your little hole (classroom) and have totally devoted your whole time to your students and since what you have been doing has been working, why go change and explore???? That's crazy talk right there- Since I have joined TPT and started blogging, a whole new door has opened and I feel like a better teacher because of it. We have met so many new people and have made new friendships along the way. It has been such a blast and I dream for it to continue.
2. Help my family in times of need- Recently, my mother was diagnosed with a terminal lung disease. It has be a very big pill for us to swallow, honestly I don't think Misty and I have yet. I know the days ahead are unknown, so I dream to make the good days the best for her and the hard days managable. Her birthday was last week and she wanted to go out for her birthday. She called and said I am inviting ya'll to my birthday party. I want to go to Chucky Cheese- she wanted to take the grandkids out for her birthday. Mind you this was the first time in over a year that she has gone anywhere other than the hospital, so this was a BIG DEAL for our family. We had a ball!!! Our dream is to spend this quality time with her and help her when times get hard.
3. Become a Better Teacher- I honestly think this should
be on every teachers list. You are never to old to learn new tricks and we all need to grow as educators and teachers. It's having fun along your teaching journey that counts. Time to step out of our little holes classroom and step out in this journey of learning!!!!!!
We just pulled up to our hotel, and what's the first thing we have to do?????
Go hit the beach and feel the sand. We are in for some much needed R and R with everything going on with mom right now. But Misty is holding the fort down while I can have some family time with the hub and kids.
Don't this picture just make you think you can walk right onto the sand. The water here at Fort Walton is beautiful. Ya'll come join me. We need to get some blogging buddies together for a teacher beach retreat.
Before I left home, I found some pics of Ms. Misty's class working on contractions on my phone and wanted to share this very inexpensive activity and freebie.
How cute and easy it this activity to make. She cut out small strips of poster board and wrote down contraction words. Then she wrote the contractions on clothes pins to match. For differentiated learning, she had them write the contraction in a sentence. Cute and very inexpensive. This was so simple, I had to make some up for my firsties has well. I did mine with the contraction- NOT. Click here for NOT poster activity freebie.
I put mine on card stock and then laminated them.
I also made up some ocean contraction worksheets to go with my NOT contraction lesson.
Can you tell where my mind was already when I made these. Freebie for you!!!!!! Click here.
I've got to go, the water is calling my name and so are the kids. Hope everyone is having a great weekend!!!!
This beautiful lady in the middle is our wonderful mother. She is our rock and best friend. For the past few months, Misty and I have had our world turned upside down. Our mother has been diagnosed with a terminal lung disease called Idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis . We have been in the hospital, rehab, and now finally back home for home health and a new normal. Thank you St. Thomas in Nashville for such a wonderful job and helping us deal with this the best way we can. I don't know what we would have done without such a wonderful group of doctors and nurses. We would also like to say thank you to all of our wonderful followers who have reached out and for your prayers. You don't realize how many wonderful friends you have until you need them.
